Objectives
The specific objectives of this study are the following
- To provide a detailed overview on existing modelling approaches and model estimates concerning the production of energy-crops in agriculture
- To propose feasibel approaches to include biofuels and biomass production into agricultural sector models maintained at JRC-IPTS (e.g.CAPRI, CAPSIM and AGMEMOD). These approaches should specifically focus on methodologies (e.g. processing functions, calibration) and data issues, with emphasis in its reusability by different modelling groups. Moreover, feasible links to CGE models should be explored.
- To evaluate these approaches by identifying zheir pros and cons and based on this to draw recommendations for its future inclusion in agricultural sector models
Tasks
The service is divided in three tasks:
Task 0: Written minutes of the kick-off meeting to clarify and agree all the requirements of the study
Task 1: A review of existing modelling approaches and estimates concerning the production of energy-crops in agriculture
- Overview on existing production technologies for biomass and biofuels, their main economic determinants, and future economic prospects
- Task 1.2: Overview on European and national policies
- Task 1.3: Review of existing methodologies and modelling results related to biofuels and biomass production
Task 2: Feasible approaches to include biofuels and biomass production into agricultural sector models maintained at JRC-IPTS and links to CGE models
Task 3: Pros and cons of approaches to model biofuels and biomass production in agricultural sector models: recommendations
